About me

Hi my name is Hattie

I studied Music and Italian at Cardiff University in Wales and French and Spanish at A Level before completing a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) to become a secondary school teacher.

Languages have always been very important to me and when starting my own family I wanted to pass on my passion for languages and decided to move to France where my sons would grow up bilingual.

I quickly realised how easy it was for them to switch between French and English, especially using song. Being a music teacher I developed the idea of teaching English through song at our local primary school where I have taught ‘L’Anglais par le chant’ for the last 10 years.

I have witnessed how the children benefit so much from learning English this way. It is fun, creative, good for their well-being, a welcome break from normal lessons and they love the catchy tunes.

I have created this website so that more children can benefit from my unique songs and the ‘Listen-and-Sing’ method in harmony with the education system.

Thank you Hattie! - Maylis Campoy

I first met Hattie May when she applied for her first teaching job at the Jo Richardson Community School in London. Immediately she proved to be an outstanding teacher and musician. She was able to enthuse the most difficult of students and stretch all students, especially through her outstanding contribution to the extra curricular life of the school. She is an outstanding musician who is able to impart skills to an exceptionally high standard. Every goal Hattie has set herself has been achieved with a quiet determination and outstanding knowledge. I believe that her new musical venture in France will be an outstanding success due to her understanding of children’s cerebral development as well as their musical development.Singing is her specialist area and will be a major part of her project. Any child taught by Hattie will be gifted with an experience for life which will be treasured and never forgotten - Wendy Evans

Thank you so much Hattie, it’s amazing when you come to sing with the children! We love the person you are and the work you do! What an energy! - Teacher Marianne and Teacher Clare
